Adding a Bit of Sunshine

Back in February when I was working on Madeline's room I came across a yellow duvet at Target for only $10.  I had my eye on it for a few months, but was waiting for the price to drop.  I have a slight obsession with yellow in the master bedroom and have somehow incorporated it in every room upstairs, a change from the turquoise obsession downstairs.  Here is a comparison of my "winter" bedding and my "spring" bedding.
I love the light airy feel.

The day I read Just A Girl's post on her DIY Acrylic Tray I ran out to Hobby Lobby to make my own!  I love this inexpensive addition to the bedroom.

Party of Five

I have always loved HOS' gallery wall and the Party of 5 frames.

Remember the master gallery wall and that little blank spot?
Perfect for my own little party of 5 nod.

I had hoped to find a vintage 5, but settled for a cardboard one at Hobby Lobby for $2.47.  A quick coat of my favorite metallic spray paint and a hot glued pop tab made this one of the easiest projects to date.

Master Bedroom Gallery Wall

Since bedrooms seem to be the theme this month I thought that I would end the month with a little update of the master bedroom.  Last year I started a little gallery wall on one narrow wall and decided to move it to a larger space when I purchased a set of matching frames from Ikea last month.  I chose the Virserum (the same line as the two above my bed) to keep things matchy-matchy.

My inspiration for silhouettes in the bedroom? My real life bff, LaNae.
Here is her lovely vignette.

I had the inspiration, but not the expertise in photoshop, but Samantha came to my rescue with her tutorial that does not use photoshop!

For a fun spin on the traditional silhouettes I did mine in yellow.  I am on the hunt for a vintage number 5 for that little blank corner, bur overall I am pleased with the new addition of color and interest.

I Spy Yellow

Over the weekend I added some touches of yellow in the master bedroom. I have always been fond of the rolled flowers that I have seen out in blogland and decided it was time to try them. I burned a few fingers with the glue gun, but well worth it!

I found a cheap $3.50 wood frame at Meijer to hold my poster print, but the black was not going to work so I decided to call on my Rub N Buff hero again. I am pleased with the results and will add to this mini gallery wall in time.

A Winner, Napper, and a Mr. and Mrs.

What a crazy title, right?! Well, you will understand by the end of this post.  I bought a Monopoly game for $5 last week and we decided to break it out and play. It took three nights and several hours to finish one game, but it was fun and Wyatt was the big winner. By the end of the game he had all the money and properties. He owned all the railroads and I promise I hit them at least twice each loop. Forget Boardwalk, get the railroads!

The Napper
Here is a picture of my sweet baby. We could not get him to wake up! Of course it was after 5 and he was up until 11!

Mr. and Mrs.

A lot of Mr. & Mrs. love out there on Pinterest and I thought that is just what I need as a filler for my frames in the master bedroom. I like the girly font and the "manly" font.  I had some dollar store photo paper and with PSE I had these in my frames in less than 10 minutes!

I printed them on 8.5X11 paper and cut to size. Here are the images if you are interested.

Master Bedroom {Room Tour}

Awhile back I showed you snippets of my master bedroom.  This room has always felt incomplete to me and with less than a hundred dollars this room has been transformed!

We replaced the red Ikea lamps with these wall lamps.

Added a new lantern on top of the armoire.

The rocking chair will be finding a new home. I need something that we will actually sit in, but for now it serves a purpose holding our pillows at night. Which reminds me of this funny clip!

Here is my corner window that would look fantastic with window treatments and a comfy chair.

Ikea frames above the bed that are waiting for black and white family pictures that will be taken by LaNae, my bff over at Tattered Tulips.  My favorite picture printing place Mpix will print true black and white 12x12 prints for only $6.99.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall {Rub N Buff}

My master bedroom is getting a little TLC, after all it is the most important room of the house! I found this fabulous mirror at Hobby Lobby for $18.00 and I snatched it up with my three unruly kids in tow. The frame is plastic and a little ugly. I mulled over spray paint vs Rub N Buff while on vaca and decided to give this RNB a try. I have never used it before and was de-lighted with the results. A little really does go a long way and at $3.99 a tube that is a great deal! I had wanted Pewter, but ended up with Silver Leaf because that was all Hobby Lobby had. In 15 minutes my mirror went from drab to fab! I feel corny today!

Well, I could not stop there! I gave the knobs on my Ikea dresser and bedside tables a little update too! I love the glam silver! I will show you the rest of the updates to this room when I dust my dresser ;)

Master Bedroom

I am slowly adding rooms to my "home tour" and came across these photos taken after the Ikea trip. I did find an awesome blue and white striped pillow with floral embroidery at Kohls which looks fab on the bed, but I have not taken a photo yet. The striped pillow seen in the picture is now on the rocking chair. The paint color is Gravity from Lowes and can look gray or blue depending on the time of day. I would love to add curtains to the windows, a mirror above the dresser, and art above the bed. I have also thought about painting the rocking chair red. The rocking chair landed here by necessity because there was no other place, but I have found that it is great for storing the pillows at night.

Oh, and don't make fun of my money jar. That is our retirement fund. No, really.

The Ikea Trip

Was a lot of fun, but it was a little stressful coming home. The weather was horrible and we passed several accidents, but LaNae is a good driver and we made it home safe! Evie's room is going to be awesome! I can not wait to see her finished room. I picked up a few things and one of them was the quilt that matches our bedding that we bought at Ikea before we moved. Everything you see in the picture with the exception of the frame is Ikea. I still need something above my bed... any ideas? Oh, and those cheap lamps really tickled LaNae.

Gravity

I think that will be the color of my bedroom. Matt wants "soothing" and I agree, but I want something that we have never had before so I decided that something in the gray family would work well. I bought a sample post and painted a couple of areas and I like it!!! Now, I just need Matt to agree. I am too lazy to take a picture, but the color is Gravity 4005-1B (Lowe's Valspar-of course)
