Summer Bucket List & Responsibility Chart

My kids are 8, 6, and 4.  We do not pay allowance throughout the school year, but I usually do something in the summer to cut down on the need {want} pleas.  This summer we are calling it "responsibilities" and the three kids are working together to purchase Minecraft for the computer (what is with this game?!).  I found these super cute FREE editable charts.

SOURCE

I made one for each kid and slipped them into a page protector to use with dry erase markers.  I would rather not print these off every week.  I added a "Mom's Choice" and that gives me a little flexibility (meaning I can throw a needed job in there to suit my needs).  We also have a mandatory one hour rest period because the days are looooong and this mommy needs a break.  They only get to mark this one off if they have a "good" rest time (not bugging mommy or their siblings).  And, yes,  my kids are doing summer school packets. I can't let go of the former teacher in me. As Madeline's teacher would say. "If you don't use it, you will lose it".

Moving on to the FUN stuff! Our Summer Bucket List!  This year we used the big chalkboard to write our list.  Hopefully we will do most of them, but usually there are a few that we do not.  I am cracking up that Red Lobster and Cracker Barrel made the list.  My kids have the taste buds of seventy year olds.  Have you ever been to Red Lobster on a Wednesday night? I swear it is only cute little old couples!

Dino World

On the way home we stopped at Dinosaur World at the Cave City exit in Kentucky.  The kids always talk about how they want to go there and we went.  It is not worth the money and my mission in life is to never return.  Luke was terrified of the fiberglass beasts and he was the main reason why we went as he was absent from the first trip.  Our first trip was four years ago when I was as big as a dino just weeks away from Luke's arrival.

Pool Time

While Matt and I were touring Atlanta the kids spent a lot of time in the pool!

Luke "posing" for the camera.  This is his "thinking" pose.

Madeline loves getting rides from her big bro.

A little chilly.

Diving board chin-ups.

Luke needs just one more floaty

Bike Wash

My husband was telling me about a "bike wash" that he helped a customer create and it reminded me of this one that I saw in a Parenting magazine, but my kids enjoyed a plain old sprinkler just as much!

Water Balloon Bonanza

Water balloons are a lot like unwrapping presents.
A lot of prep for a minute of fun, but we did have fun!
I do not have pictures when I got involved, but I was soaked from head to toe!

Wyatt anticipating. He could not wait to get his Dad.

Madeline jumping the gun!

This picture is for Chelley and you know why!

Luke being Luke... I love this kid!

Success!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Last night the family went to an Indianapolis Indians game courtesy of The Indiana Family of Farmers. Although it was hot, hot, hot and humid to boot we had a great time with family and friends.

Fun with Daddy

Matt is a lot of fun and a great father and husband. We are truly blessed that he is ours. Last week he and kids got involved in a water gun fight fully clothed. No one knows who the "victor" was, but they all had  fun. I had some laundry to do after that,  but well worth the memories that we will have.  Where was I? Trying to stay dry behind the camera!
