I love that Mama and Papas song! Well, this Monday morning has been rough. My baby girl has been up since 4 am with the flu and it seems never ending. I have about 4 loads of laundry and that is no lie and I am soooo glad that I had the foresight to grab that bucket for our quick trip to take Wyatt to school. Here is my poor girl and a sneak peek of the new couch. Nothing like a sick kid to break in new furniture. Every time my kids get the flu I think of the Jon and Kate episode where Kate makes the sick kids lay on the laundry room floor. That is not where I would want to be and really, most things can be cleaned with a little elbow grease.
On another note I am so excited bout my new rug for the entry way. I am not sure if it brings out the best in my contractor grade linoleum, but I am rolling with it. I got this jute rug for less than $3.00 at Kohls using my Kohls bucks! How cool is that!

A little bit of Spring
I found these fabulous eggs and nests at Target for $5 and they were just what I needed for this accent table. The tray is painted with my Laura Ashley Sky Blue 2 paint that I received through the Valspar FB promo, I love this color and I think that will be the powder room color. I found the tray in the One Spot at Target, but it was $2.50 (go figure). This is our mail and key spot. I always have some sort of container and for the last 8.5 years this has worked. I usually sort mail once a week and most of it goes in the recycle bin.
And here is a shot of the kids eating their FAVORITE powdered donuts on a velvet blanket. My Dad would have a heart attack!

Searching
for inexpensive 18 inch square pillow covers! I have 4 pillows in my living room that need new covers and I really hate making them and by the time you buy fabric and factor in time it is just worth it to me to buy some, but $25 is too much! Here are pillows that I love from Tonic Living.

WWYD?
If you accidently sucked up two Toy Story Operation pieces up the vacuum? I thought they were white something that should be sucked up and when I realized what they were it was too late. Well, I did what any sensible person would do. I removed the vacuum bag and sorted through the dusty mess. I did find the two pieces and Mickey Mouse's missing hand to Luke's Hallmark ornament! Score! I completed this messy job outside in 30 degree weather. There was no way that stuff was going to get back into my house.

Easter Outfits
Hubby has been off the last two days and that gave me more time to sew than usual. I decided to work on the kids Easter outfits. I know that I am way early, but I am trying to only work on one project at a time. I still need to make Madeline's top and pants and I also want to make a fabric something for her hair. The ties were super easy and quick! I ended up using this pattern and LOVED it! Total cost for the dress and two ties including stabilizer and buttons was $20 dollars. I will purchase the boys shirts and pants. I am not that crafty!!!

Warming Up
The snow is melting, and although I know there is a possibility for more to return I am going to remain optimistic and enjoy these warmer days! I found this quote and I think that it can summarize the last few weeks: Winter is nature's way of saying, "Up yours." ~Robert Byrne
Here is a picture that I took during one of our snow days. I can not wait for the birds to return! How do they survive these winters?
Hoping all of you have a warm Valentine's Day!

More Monsters!
Remember when we painted the bathroom and I said I was on the hunt for art above the toilet? Well, my bff over at Tattered Tulips found this fabulous idea! I bought all my supplies at Walmart: 11x14 canvas, washable poster paints, and frames. The total cost was around $25.00. I took the glass out of the frames for safety and once our weather warms up I am going to give the "art" a coat of poly. Here is a rare photo of me... how's that for art?

Favorite Toy
I bought this cheap marble run for the kids at Christmas. This was a great buy and the kids have spent hours playing with it which means more quiet time for mommy!
Oh, and note to self: Remember to turn the hot shoe flash off after use. I had to use my on board flash and I hate that thing!

Snow, snow, go away...
More snow. Matt spent a couple of hours yesterday uncovering our driveway from the ice. All those large chunks are gutter ice. We are still prisoners here and currently do not have cable, but we do have two local channels, thankfully one of them is FOX.
These are my PB lamp shades in the living room and my new shades for the dining room. I purchased them for a dollar a piece and ordered some jute braid trim so I can make some PB knock offs! Hopefully next week I will have pictures of that. Are you giddy with excitement?
Here is a sneak of some chair "art". I do not know exactly where these are going. I really want to get this room painted so I can hang window treatments. I am so tired of the barney walls. I know, you have heard this complaint before. I just have to convince the painter that it is his job.
Oh, and my main job today, after I play trains, dolls, and watch puppet shows is to remove the office chair recovering job. I thought that I liked it, but I do not. I read too many awesome blogs and got caught up in the hype of blog living. After some deep thinking in a warm bubble bath I decided to stay true to myself. That is my mantra for this year.
