Patio Planning

I love Spring and it gets me in the mood to spruce up the outdoors. One of my home goals was to expand the patio area and create an outdoor space that we could enjoy for three seasons, although here in Indiana it sometime feels as though we only have two seasons.  We have a 10x12 slab and wanted to add an addition like this:

Here is my crude mock up.  Originally I wanted a fire pit that was made out of pavers, but that is out of the budget right now.  We may add it in the future.  This is to scale, one square equals one square foot.

I wanted to see how the drawing would translate in real life so I did this outside.  I am so glad that my kids have enough toys to use as markers (read in sarcastic tone).  I am sure that they neighbors think that I am nuts!

After I figured out the layout I calculated how many pavers we needed and added an extra 10% just in case.  You are looking are 630 pavers.  Wyatt was confused why the workers did not lay the patio.  He does not know that he is one of the "workers"!  Hopefully we will get this started soon so we can enjoy the extra space.

Adding a Bit of Sunshine

Back in February when I was working on Madeline's room I came across a yellow duvet at Target for only $10.  I had my eye on it for a few months, but was waiting for the price to drop.  I have a slight obsession with yellow in the master bedroom and have somehow incorporated it in every room upstairs, a change from the turquoise obsession downstairs.  Here is a comparison of my "winter" bedding and my "spring" bedding.
I love the light airy feel.

The day I read Just A Girl's post on her DIY Acrylic Tray I ran out to Hobby Lobby to make my own!  I love this inexpensive addition to the bedroom.

Easter 2013 Edition

We dyed eggs on Saturday.  This year we glammed them up with glitter!  Throughout the week we have counted down with out Resurrection Eggs and on Easter Sunday we ate Resurrection Rolls for breakfast. Luke was a little confused because he kept calling the marshmallow "baby Jesus", but perfect for the bigger kids.  Wyatt has really been listening in Sunday school and he was able to add to the story this year.

Here are the kids on Easter Sunday.  I struggled with the pictures.  Let's just say that not everybody was  on board.  I made Madeline's outfit per tradition. The boys are wearing seersucker. Nothing says Easter better than seersucker!

After  church we had our Easter egg hunt.  This year the Balls joined us.  It is amazing that it only takes a few minutes for five kids to find over a hundred eggs!
