Eight Years and Counting

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and we celebrated by Matt working and I painted the master bath. I stink at painting so it took me hours and I left an inch and half on the top for Matt to do because I kept hitting the ceiling. Last night we watched a stupid movie (Hot Tub Time Machine- not worth renting, but Michael it is a little funny) and had take out. Today we are shopping for new bathroom fixtures and towels. I do not think that we have had NICE towels since our wedding and I still have a lot of ratty towels from our wedding. I was also presented a bouquet of gerber daisies and those were my wedding flower from Sam's, which is where we bought all of our flowers- great prices!

What a week!

My kids had the best week ever! Birthday party on Tuesday, zoo play date on Wednesday, pool play date on Thursday, and Toy Story 3 on Friday!!! In the midst of this week Luke and Madeline got nasty fevers and Luke has an annoying persistent cough that I had a few weeks ago.

I have been working on the chairs for about ten minuets a day- LOL. I have all the piping finished and today I hope to get some of the sewing pieces finished. I am just doing a little at a time because there is no rush.

I am going to be painting the master bath this week in a darker shade of gray than our bedroom and I am on the mission for new towel holders. We have one lousy towel bar and it is just not working and some new towels!!! Matt and I will be celebrating 8 years this week and we are still using towels that we received as wedding gifts! Time to move on... with new towels that is!

Dad's Day

Was pretty uneventful. We had lunch at the Roadhouse and played Super Mario Bros for hours! I even played and my thumbs HURT! Here are the pictures that the kids took as a surprise for Daddy.

No More Pain

When it comes to making bias tape! I have one of those silver do-dad's that are supposed to make it easy, but still wastes a lot of fabric. I came across this tip from Sew, Mama, Sew and it is AWESOME!!! I made my square bigger and I can not believe how much tape I was able to make in less than 15 minutes! Here is the link!

Vacation!

We are planning on a mini-vacation at the end of July. We will be driving to Alabama to see the grandparents and we are debating about driving only 6 hours south to either Gulf Shore or Pensacola. Matt does not want to go because of the oil. I want a few days on the beach so we will see!

This picture was taken 2 days ago and it still looks good to me!

Fabric

Today the whole family went to JoAnn's to pick out chair fabric. I knew that I wanted something light and airy feeling and nothing that was red, green, black, or brown- those are all color schemes that I have done in the past and I want something different. This is what I found and fell in love with!!! These pictures do not give the fabric justice- it is beautiful in person. I bought a tan for the piping and throw pillows. I forgot to add the best part! We got the fabric for $11.99 a yard!

This is my seat cushion, but their are large light blue stripes alternating with the green.

This is the main fabric for the chair:

My New Project!

My sweet husband drove to Brownsburg to pick up these blue wing chairs (picture from listing). They were a steal at $50 for the pair! Gotta love Craigslist. I will be fabric shopping soon and I will post the contenders. Here is the blog that I am using as a guide.

Luke's Room

Don't tell the other kids, but Luke's room is my favorite! And the best part is this is his first bed and he is sleeping in it!!! For the first time in 5.5 years we do not have a child in our bed.

Madeline's Room

The princess. Madeline is one lucky 3 year old. She has a QUEEN bed! We did not want to get rid of it and when we have guests they can use this room, which we found out a few weeks ago that she does NOT like this idea. The pink was a little bright, but it is growing on me!

I actually found a name plaque with "Madeline" at TJ Maxx!

Maisy and Stacy love the new digs!

Wyatt's Room

The three kids rooms were white before we painted them. My in-laws and sister Olivia painted the rooms and I am so thankful. It was fun getting their rooms ready because they shared a room before at the Bosart house. We repurposed the black dressers that had been in our room for the boys and my sister Tammy gave us this awesome bed for Wyatt. The bed was an oak color before and with just a little primer and paint we got this fabulous red! Check out the "hidey hole"!

Wyatt's Room

Lemonde 25 cents

The Penney family had their first garage sale this summer. Our first because we have never had a garage! Ah, living the high life! Wyatt still calls the garage, "garage sale" because he thinks that is what it is called. The Balls came over and the kids made a stand. Madeline and Evie really enjoyed it! Future business partners?

Cousins

Chelley and Matt were in town the last weekend in May and here are some pictures of the cousins! I am not sure why we are shirtless in most of them, but that is the hillbilly coming out!

Re-Decorating

Well, I finally have the fireplace the way I want it!
Here is the before

and after

We are trying to do only one project at a time. The first priority was getting the garage organized which meant putting up drywall, painting, and ordering cabinets. The cabinets will be here is a couple of weeks and then that project will be finished.

We bought three gallons of "Gravity" yesterday and painting should begin soon in the master. I am excited about this. For some reason we have always had a white bedroom- how boring!

Currently Matt is painting an old desk that was his fathers, passed down to Matt, and now to Wyatt. It will be the same blue that we painted Luke's dresser. Later today I will post the kids' bedroom pictures.

Should I tell about my Craigslist fiasco?

I will. I am on a hunt for a pair of wingback chairs to recover for the living room. I called a lady who posted some and drove all the way to the north side only to have her not answer the phone. She finally calls me back when I am half way home. I think that it is a sign that it is not meant to be. I *may* be driving to Brownsburg for an awesome pair for only $50! Cross your fingers for me!
