Squeezing the Daylight Out of Each Day

The minute the kids throw their book bags on the laundry room floor they are desperately trying to squeeze as much fun as possible in their precious four hours before bedtime.

Wyatt and his sweatbands.  I can not help but giggle a little.

Milestones

Madeline is one proud little girl! This week Daddy taught her how to ride on two wheels.  Here is a corny slide show that possibly only a mother or grandma would appreciate! Oh, and if you giggled at my hubby getting a workout, don't worry I did too!

And although this is Madeline's time to shine I could not help but share Wyatt's picture of his first time.

I'm Wyatt and I Know It...

For some reason that is going through my head so I thought I would just go for it.  This week is college week at Wyatt's school.  Tuesday they wore sunglasses because "their future is bright".  Wyatt is into all these weird poses. The second one he is Spiderman because he is wearing Spiderman sun glasses.

Today is career day.  Wyatt wants to be a police officer (doesn't every 7 year old boy).  Luckily we have an old costume and I printed local IMPD badges for the shirt and hat using label paper.

Easter Dress Sneak Peek

Well, I am just going to let you all know know that I did not make a dress for myself.  I looked at fabric a couple of times and nothing spoke to me.  I am still going to make a dress and you will be the first to know.  I am taking two online courses and that is really cramping my style, but I did make Madeline and her doll matching Easter dresses.  I fell in love with this April Cornell fabric and she liked it too. I had to steer her away from the pastel bunny and egg fabric.

Here is Addie's dress. I love this pattern and this can be made in under two hours.  Probably one hour if you did not have any distractions.

Hoop Happiness

We ordered a portable basketball goal last week and it took a little less than a week to arrive, but it felt like an eternity because Wyatt inquired about it every day.  It took two adults an hour to assemble and the minute after we set it up it started to rain, but that did not stop the kids from enjoying their new toy.  I think that this goal is going to be well worth the money!

Madeline getting ready to shoot...

And she SCORES!

P.S.  And speaking of hoop happiness. Here is a shot-out to Matt who won the bracket at his work. You go baby!

Pinterest for the Kids

My two youngest are in LOVE with Doc McStuffins and that means that there is a lot of "doctor" role playing.  We have the classic Fisher Price doctor kit, but lost the band-aid long ago.  I saw this cute tutorial on Pinterest and knew that was the solution!

I made colored ones and I did not add velcro.

A mom totally wrote that slogan!

Another Pinterest inspired project was fabric houses for our mini Lalaloopsy dolls. The houses are also great storage for all those little pieces.  I made a boy version for Luke and a girly one for Madeline.  These were actually Christmas gifts (head hung in shame) and I am just now showing you!  This project only cost me $3 for the plastic as I had the fabric in my stash.

Here is the tutorial:

And here are mine:

I hope that this has inspired you to make good on one of your pins and create something!

Madeline's Zoo

This is what we woke up to. Lots of rain.  And yes, my grass needs cut.  There is a lot I will do: take out the garbage, install a light fixture, and pull weeds till I get blisters, but I do not mow the lawn. I guess I am a diva.

Madeline decided to make her own zoo and I was the first customer.  I took pictures like a good patron should and Luke fed some of the animals.  Madeline even made a map that we used to guide us through the two story zoo.  We are going to miss this girl when she heads off to kindergarten this fall.

Madeline and Addie Sew

Madeline and Addie both received a sewing machine for Christmas. I love the Our Generation accessories and this one has to be one of my favorite!  Look at all the cute stuff and it is only $17.39.  The needle really moves up and down and you can lift the presser foot.  Teeny bolts of fabric are also included.

Wyatt's Mario Party

 It's Mario Time

Wyatt turned seven last week and we celebrated with a surprise Mario party! I found a lot of great free ideas on Pinterest.  We all had a blast and it was worth all the prep work.  I had a little bit of drama with the mustache pops that resulted in one chocolate covered mommy and kitchen.  Nothing that soap and water could not take care of though.  Until next year...
