It's Cookie Time

I do not know if I shared this back in August, but I volunteered to lead a Girl Scout Troop.   I am the proud troop leader of the cutest daisies, including my Madeline.  It is cookie time and as the leader and cookie mom I am very busy! Matt has been extremely helpful and has mad selling skills.  My troop sold 843 boxes between the six parents girls.  Tomorrow Matt and I are picking up the hundreds of cookies and they will take over my dining room for the next couple of days...

Here is my Girl Scout Pin Board if interested and if you have one link up in the comments! I would love to follow your board.

Gallery Wall Revisited

I needed to expand my gallery wall to add updated pictures of the three kids.  The white wall has remained the same, but the black wall has gone through a few changes.

Final Round... Maybe?

I filled the previous holes and they are not noticeable.  I use really small nails and that helps.  When I finally sucked it up and made templates for each frame rather than randomly throwing them up there I was able to get the look I wanted in under an hour.  I used sticky tac on the bottom two corners of every frame.  This keeps the frames level and secure.

Winter Decorating

Winter is here for next couple of months and I find that this is my most difficult time to decorate.  A suitable chalkboard quote, snow filled hurricanes, and snow sprinkled pine cones will get me through this decorating slump.

Valentine Vignette

I am not usually a Valentine type of girl, but for some reason I want to rock the love this winter.  Here is a simple, bright display to try to get over the winter blahs now that the hype of Christmas is over.

I thought that the winter word art was still appropriate and adding the suit of hearts was a fun touch.

I needed a filler for the bowl and these felt hearts were perfect and easy!  A little red ric rac trim and this ode to love is complete!

2013 Home Goals

I love goal setting and making lists.  There is always a running list on my kitchen chalkboard for the day to day stuff, but when it comes to home improvement I keep that one on my Goals page.  Matt and I get together and come up with what we hope to accomplish in the next year.  Although we create the list together that does not mean that we are always in agreement on the timeline.  He has been known to hijack the list, but they have always been to my advantage (the laminate flooring for one).  This year I divided the list into Need, Want, and Dream.  The dream category is my favorite!  Before we can tackle that list there are three projects that are Top Priority and must be completed first.

Add the base board to the kitchen island.  We need to rent a saw and that has held us up.  Doesn't it look nice though?

Add quarter round and inevitably have to repaint the baseboards to the entire first floor.

Get that cable rerouted!

So there are my lofty goals.  Aside from the home goals I am in the process of trying to preserve family memories i.e. downloading four years of pictures onto disks and working on our family photo books for *cough*cough* 2011 and 2012.  Happy goal setting to you!

Sledding on Heatherdown Hill

The first time I saw the sloped backyard I was not dismayed as my husband was.  What I saw was our very own hill for sledding.  Each winter that brings snow we have our very own hill just right for the kiddos.  This year Matt built a ramp so the kids could launch themselves.  How genius was that?! He also added a hump midway through for an extra boost.  This kept the kids entertained for two afternoons which meant one happy mama.
