The task at hand... PAINT

For the life of me I can not choose a paint color. It took me days to pick out the kids' bedrooms, which will be our first painting projects. Matt is busy painting the boys' dressers and Wyatt's bed- I wanted Classic Red for his bed and dresser. Luke's dresser will be navy. Madeline wants Easter Basket (lavender), but I am not sure how it will look with her new bedding due to arrive this week. I think she is more set on the name than the color. We will see who wins!

I finally decided on a Martha Stewart color for the family room and kitchen and now I do not think that it is available. Of course! Well, I am friendly with a guy that works for Lowes so we will see...

Family Room Redo- Cheap

I have had a red family room for the last 9 years and I am itching for a change! Decorating is not my thing, but I do want a new look for when we move. I am keeping my existing furniture, but I covered the red chair with a chocolate brown faux suede slipcover so now my colors are green and brown. I also added chocolate brown lampshades. So far I have spent $62.50. I picked up these fabulous fabrics 40% off and I covered the ottoman in the floral and I making pillows with the check and floral. $53.00 for all the fabric and trim. The new family room is a dark color (see picture above) and I am thinking of pulling the darker blue or the green from the floral for the walls. My family room opens to the eat-in kitchen and I will use the same blue or green in the kitchen. Some of my walls are the creamy background color (see kitchen picture below),so I think that it will all blend nicely.

Short Break

We (meaning me) will be taking a short break from customs until I get moved into the new casa. I have been so busy with both houses that it is impossible to get the few commitments that I have completed (Amanda, do not worry- you will have your dress). We move the end of April so I hope to get thing organized and running!

On another note, I will be out at the new house tomorrow and I will take pictures of it empty so you can see the before and afters!

Back to the Babies Thing...

My sister Chelley is going to have a BABY!!! We are so excited! This will make #3 for them. I did not want to spill the beans until I knew she had told the rest of the family. My new niece or nephew will arrive at the end of August and I have asked to be at the birth. She said, "NO". We will see about that!

Birthdays, Babies, and Houses

Last Friday was my 32nd birthday and I was surprised with chocolate, roses, and sweet cards from Matt and the kids. I love my card from the kids because this is the first year that Wyatt was able to write his name "all by himself". It was beautiful!

We also signed the final counter on our new home and I am so excited!!! I could not sleep for days. We still have the inspection, but I am pretty sure that everything will be fine (I hope). I love the house! It is in a beautiful neighborhood, on a cul-de-sac with great sidewalks for bike riding. We have a porch!!! Do you know how hard that is to come by on a newer construction home? I have always had a porch so that was going to be a hard one to give up. My favorite part of the house is the kitchen, dining, and family room, which all flows together with a view of the fenced in backyard. There are 5 bedrooms. The largest one will be the playroom with a door that I can shut (not viewing the mess) and the best part of all is closets galore!!!

About the babies... I can not say yet... but it is not me!

SOLD

I am so used to seeing a "For Sale" sign in my yard. I have been looking at one for almost three years that you can imagine my delight to see the bright red SOLD sign!!! I saw it a block away and actually shed a tear, or a few more. I am so RELIEVED to move on! I love this house, but it does not work for our family anymore. I am happy to know that someone else will occupy this home and make their own memories. I am sure that 20 years down the road I will still drive down this street and remember Matt and I in our first years alone as newlyweds and then adding the three most wonderful children to our lives. This is the house where we celebrated first birthdays and milestones, where Matt learned a lot about fixing a 1929 house, and where I learned to cook more than Hamburger Helpers...

Thank you to all of you who have supported us throughout our journey and thank you to our third and final Realtor, Jamie Smock for selling our house!!!

Are you ready for a new design?

DillyDally's Springtime in... launch begins March 9th. I am listing a Hamptons inspired beach set. I used a Michael Miller daisy fabric and seersucker stripes that I have used before, but this time I used my Scandinavia pattern! It is simple, but sweet and I added a cute little apron that Madeline loves! She has been wearing it all morning.

Here are the older sets that were my inspiration:

Today is March First

and my 32nd birthday is in 11 days. I am feeling a little old. Part of me thinks that I am still 21, but I am not. I have done a lot in the last few years, mainly push out babies and keep a clean house. I have changed lots of diapers, stayed married for almost 8 years (WOW- I can not wait for 10- a getaway for sure), survived one bathroom for 5 people!!! So far I like what I have accomplished. It is everything I wanted since I was 6 years old, but 32... just need to let it sink in. Time is passing too quickly!
