Random Post

My plant shelf has looked like this since January.  I actually do not notice it until someone asks me about it. I plan on removing the foam rockets and hiding the launchers.

My sweet sis, who is currently working in Malta with her family sent me b-day money with the instruction to buy something at Target.  This is what I picked out! LOVE them.

What is this? Quarter round for my naked baseboards! I am so excited!!! We had to buy 240 feet and I did save the rest of my b-day money for this because I am a girl that gets more giddy over trim than shoes!

My sweet, sweet girl in a dress that I scored for $3.99! What a deal!  This was what she wore for the Spring pictures at school that I never buy because they are so pricey.  I have a feeling I may cave this time!

Vertical Hanging Buckets

My bucket project is finished!
I told you that I had something up my sleeve last Wednesday that involved this:

It is hard to tell in the picture below, but my Family Rules wood sign has a white washed distressed look and I wanted to mimic it on the cabinet door that I was using.  Madeline and I were stranded with Grandma P at a custom cabinet shop this past summer and we walked away with a cabinet door and some pretty glass knobs.  The door has been sitting in the garage waiting for a new home and it was the perfect size for this project.  Back to the paint,  I diluted some white paint that I already had and painted a light coat on the door.  I added three inexpensive hooks on the front and a sawtooth hanger on the back.  I have wanted something for this side of the window and I am pleased with the balanced look.  Even more exciting are all possibilities to switch out the faux plants with seasonal decor!

Madeline's Room Reveal

Madeline's room is finished and we are two happy girls!  I had to wait three weeks to apply the vinyl headboard and that thing was a beast!  I mod-podged the prints onto wrapped canvases, made a coordinating pillow with her old sham,  and added a mirror to finish this room up. No more princesses or pink!  This room is light and airy and perfect for the six year old who thinks she is grown up! Sources are at the end of the post.

Here is the mood board in real life.

Here are some side by sides.  Oh, what a difference paint can make!

Something Up My Sleeve

These are the components of my next project minus the paint.  On our little excursion to Ikea I picked up three faux plants for my numbered buckets that used to live on top of the fridge.  They need a new home and a lightbulb went off!  Here are the materials I am using. I am sure that you can see what direction I am going in.  IF I finish my résumé I will allow myself to work on this today.

A Little Road Trip

The last couple of weeks at my house have been rough.  All three of the kids have been sick and Wyatt missed four days of school. We are still recovering from the make up work.  In the midst of the sickness it was my 35th birthday and it was extremely uneventful.  We drove to Cincinnati yesterday to celebrate  healthy kids and an aging mommy.  We had a great time!

This picture of Luke cracks me up!  For the record, that is my Coke that is 90% empty.  I am too smart to give this child that much caffeine!

This was our first trip to Jungle Jim's.  We liked this display the best.  For some reason Madeline was terrified of the soup can.

Of course Ikea was on the agenda!  The kids enjoyed playing in the kids area while we shopped and spinning on these discounted stools.

Ended our little adventure with some frozen yogurt.  Yummy!

Wishful Spring Thinking

Here in Indy there are few signs of spring.  How depressing!  I am ready to spring clean, plan my garden, and enjoy the outdoors!  I finally removed my winter and Valentine decor and added touches of spring indoors.  For some reason I do not put out the exact displays from the previous year. I always tweak a little.
