Laminate Floor B&A

Next month will mark one year that we began our laminate journey and I have shown some of the before and afters,  but I thought that I would put them all in one post.  I am still in love with the floors! We have had a few nicks and scratches, but nothing a Crayola won't fix!

Adding laminate has been my favorite change since we moved here and I believe has made the most impact.  I get lots of compliments on the floor and most people are surprised to hear that it is laminate and that it is from Sam's Club.  I hope that when we have some cash to spare that we can add this to the upstairs hallway.

Trio of Wreaths

I thought that I was done decorating for Christmas, but I had a hard time passing on these 70% off wreaths and ribbon.  I love the look of wreaths on windows.

Here is my inspiration from hi sugarplum!

For a little less than thirteen dollars I was able to recreate this look.  I love this little touch on this large window.  It is my favorite feature of the living room.  I recently replaced the  outdated cream roman shades with clean, white, non-fussy shades.  The ribbons are pulled through the top of the shade and tied into a bow on the wreath. No hardware required!

I am officially done decorating for the holidays!
Now it is baking time... yummy!

Wanted: Little Table...Found

I reworked my living room and was on the search for a little table that was not going to break the bank.  I was impulse shopping at Goodwill and was shocked to see "the" perfect table!  The table had the manufactures sticker and indicated that the table was from Target 2011.  I did a little research and found that it retailed for $79.  Goodwill had this marked for $39.99 (the prices have definitely gone up at GW), but if you have their shopper rewards card you can save 10%!

Although it was pretty as is I was envisioning something "beachy" to go with my coastal inspired room.  I used some leftover gray paint from my bedroom and  a sanding block to distress.  I shopped my house for accessories so this was easy on the wallet.

Reworking a Space

Last year we finished the living room and this is what it looked like.

I needed to clean the windows and that required moving all the furniture along the window and this is what I ended up with.

I think I like it. I love that the windows are not blocked. The room is a little beige, but someday we are getting dark laminate and I hope that will warm up the floors.  I am on the manhunt for a table between the chairs. Here are a few that have caught my eye, but really I am looking for something used under twenty dollars that I can repaint.

I Spy Aqua

Last month I grabbed a can of Rust-oleum's Aqua for $3.47 and decided to "shop my house" for victims.

Madeline had a sweet little chair that was in need of a face lift.

I had a distressed cream bowl that just wasn't doing anything for me.
I love this pop of color in this neutral room

The green vases just blended in, but now they stand out!

I used a toothbrush with a Silver Leaf Rub N Buff to add a little oomph to these aqua beauties. I loved the idea of changing my decor with just one little can and an hour of my time. Instant gratification and easy on the budget.

What can you transform in your home?

Goodwill footstool

I went to Goodwill last week in search of a wood candle holder for my cheese dome. I did not find a candle holder, but I did score this footstool for $4.99!

As soon as I got home I remembered this stool from My Third True Love that was oh, so cute!

The first thing I did was remove the fabric and spray painted the wood with RustOleum Satin Black.

I recovered the top with canvas drop cloth.

I used painters tape as my stencil for the stripe and free handed the No. 5. I used my Valspar paint sample Sky Blue 2. I failed to take a picture of this step... oops!

Here is the lovely little stool in its new home!
