The Ikea Trip

Was a lot of fun, but it was a little stressful coming home. The weather was horrible and we passed several accidents, but LaNae is a good driver and we made it home safe! Evie's room is going to be awesome! I can not wait to see her finished room. I picked up a few things and one of them was the quilt that matches our bedding that we bought at Ikea before we moved. Everything you see in the picture with the exception of the frame is Ikea. I still need something above my bed... any ideas? Oh, and those cheap lamps really tickled LaNae.

The Next Two Days

are going to hold more excitement than the last two months combined! Tonight my sweet sister is watching my kids so Matt and I can go on a well deserved date. The last time we were alone was six months ago for our anniversary! How pitiful is that! We are going to dinner and a movie. I have no idea what we are going to see, but it will not matter as long as we are together and ALONE!

Then on Friday I am going to a favorite store with a favorite friend!!! I am so excited I could burst right now! LaNae's hubby is graciously letting me go in his place to IKEA! LaNae needs the organization guru (that would be me) to help organize her kids' rooms and for endless chatter the way there and back. I am excited because we have not seen or talked to each other during the month of December because that is when her business is super busy.

Trying to stay focused!!!

There is a formal dining room set that I want from Craigslist and it is a great deal, but Matt and I had agreed that we would focus on getting a new couch first. We are saving all of our pennies until we can pay cash. Every cent I make from etsy/eBay is being funneled into our couch fund. We are even going to *gasp* get rid of cable for awhile. It is probably going to take awhile because I want a sectional, but one without the weird chaise on the end.

Vacation Crafting

I took a break from sewing the last week and did some crafting instead! I bought some PB knock off candle holders and some beachy candles to adorn my piano. I was not thinking of a beach theme for this room, but my canvas of the kids lead me in that direction. I loved this silhouette plate idea from Danny Seo and decided that was what was needed on that blank wall. This craft only cost $10. I think that is quirky and fun and I love it!


Here is my version of the costal inspired rag wreath found here. This was easy and only cost me $4.10 for the wreath and I used fabrics that I already had.
I am on a man hunt for some apothecary jars for the console table and some jute balls for the wire basket on the piano and I think that this room is done!

2010 was a great year for our family! We listed our house mid January and sold it in March and moved into our new home the end of April. I have three healthy, happy children, a wonderful husband, and life is good! Here's to 2011!

My Sewing Room

Well, I mean corner... my sewing are is in a corner of the kids' playroom, but I like it in there because I can sew while they play and they play alot! I am on a little break and thought that I would show you where all the magic happens- LOL! Just this week I picked up wooden embroidery hoops and hooped some fabric from past projects. This was a quick and inexpensive way to add a pop of color to my work space. The previous owner painted this room lavendar and we have not repainted yet. I am thinking something more gender neutral.

Now, you are probably wondering, "Where is all my stuff?" It is cleverly organized in this closet and it also keeps little hands from exploring. A plus too is that I can hang orders up as I work on them. Here are all of my notions.
I use these 12X12 boxes to projects, such as current Etsy listings. I love my monogrammed tote from my sister Olivia. I use this for the projects that are "in process". There are handles so if I need to make a trip to JoAnn's I just grab it and go!

My pattern drawers. the top drawer hold the euro patterns and my little collection of serger thread.

The other side of the closet is the pre-school materials. We even have a proper place for our work mats!
