Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Today is my 33rd birthday and it has been great so far! The kids made me cards all on their own and greeted me with an exhuberant "Happy Birthday" this morning. After lunch we are going to the library and the park. Matt is working today. We will possibly go out later. The sectional was our present to ourselves for every holiday the next 12 months, but my hubby did buy me a Topsy Turvy tomato planter that I have been wanting. Some people would not like this gift, but I am so excited. I have never grown anything before so hopefully this will be a success!

Fabric Shopping

I looked at dining chair fabric the other night when my BFF and I went out for my birthday dinner (Thanks LaNae!) and I did not see anything that I loved, but I did come across this fabric online that was just the look I was envisioning. It is hard to shop online, but fabric.com does have free return shipping so I decided it was worth a shot.

This is my inspiration from Pottery Barn.

This is the fabric that I purchased for $17.61 total for 4.5 yards.

These are the panels from Target that were $19.99 a pair. They are more of a robin's egg blue than a light blue.

I want to do a plate wall with white and blue plates. Here is my inspiration photo from Cottage and Vine.

Ping Pong

The dining room is in the initial stages of getting painted. This will include primer, trim, and ceiling which means that it is going to take a few days. All of the dining furniture is in the living room. I have the windows closed because I fear my neighbors will see and think that we are hoarders. It is a rainy day and Matt decided he needed to teach Wyatt the art of ping pong. This ping pong table was purchased in Germany by my inlaws were stationed there over twenty years ago. Matt and I played when we were dating and it is funny that our kids are playing with it now. Don't you love the picture of Luke shirtless? He was too sexy for it!

15 Minute Lamp Makeover

I needed a softer light in the playroom for those early morning play sessions when the overhead light is too bright. Like today at 6 am when Luke insisted on getting up. I had a lamp that was not being used and decided that I was going to make it work. A fat quarter is all I needed for my lampshade and I had a perfect Heather Bailey fabric that coordinated nicely with the pillows. Other supplies needed: hot glue gun and jumbo ric rac.

BEFORE

Wrap the fabric around shade. I left the selvage edge as a hem. I love how Patty Young leaves the selvage edge on pillows, etc. This is where I glued both layers.

Cut the excess off the top and bottom leaving half an inch.

Use hot glue to attach fabric to shade. I did about three inches at a time.

Cute, but needs a little something.

The yellow jumbo ric rac fits the bill! Just a bead of glue along the bottom and voila finished!

The Big Comfy Couch

When we purchased the new sectional I was really hesitant to get rid of the old couch. It was the first big piece of furniture that hubby and I bought and it is so comfy! The bones are still good, but the fabric is worn, tattered, and fading. These are things that can easily be fixed with a slipcover, but kids and slipcovers spell disaster with this mom that has a mild case of OCD so I decided that we going to work with it "as is" for the time being.

I did however make three reversible pillows using the old throw pillows and some fabulous Heather Bailey Pop Garden fabric. I love all the yellow, blue, and pop of red.

I do not know if I have posted pictures of the toys before so this may be a first. I know there is a lot, but I do have three kids that are home everyday, all day, with the exception of Wyatt who is in school 2.5 hours and we like to play!

Pop Garden OOAK

The girls of DillyDally are planning a OOAK (one of a kind) launch for March 17th and I have a loose idea in mind of my set. I am using Heather Bailey's Pop Garden and since this is OOAK there will be only one set made in my daughters size (5). I am feeling a little sad that we will not be keeping it. Here is a sneak of the fabrics! I will post more details later.

New Sofa!

We received our new sectional last week, but had to swap out two pieces and the replacements arrived today. It smells really fabulous and I love the size. My brother and sister-in-law were here last week and it great that we had enough seats for everyone! I have to admit that I have been a little paranoid about scratches, etc, but I think it is lessening. Here are the pictures I could get of the room with overcast skies and a spot on my lens to hinder me. I do not have a before with our green sofa, but it was moved to the playroom and I will post those pictures later. I purchased new pillows at Kohls and the throw was purchased at Target along with the new lampshades. Love them! I was trying to channel the Chelsea Pottery Barn lamp.
